Jordanian portraits (1) – Monochrome
May 25, 2015
Bedouin, Siq al-Barid.
April 2015.
Black & White. I would be happy to hear your opinion: Which portrait is best? Color or Black & White?
This is my contribution to Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness.
A few weeks ago I traveled in Jordan.
A peaceful and incredibly interesting country with a long history and civilization, which was a highly developed society with large cities and advanced buildings at the time, when we in Northern Europe still lived in primitive huts ……
In the time ahead you can see some of my impressions of the country.
I begin with a series of portraits of Jordanians, I have met.
This is an amazing portrait- shows a face with lots of character.

Hey Truels… thanks for posting both… I love to see what b/w brings to and image. I like the drama in the b/w although the color rings true to what was experienced when there.

I agree with you – both versions have their strong sides. How do you like “my woman” in today’s post?

I prefer the black and white one… The colored is nice also but with monochrome you rather focus on the facial expression than on the coloring… Portraits in monochrome always seem deeper… I love this one… It is really awesome!

Nice photo Truels, I like the black and white! I think it conveys more character and emotion. It has a timeless effect.
