Great Belt Bridge (Storebæltsbroen) – Passage under the suspension bridge
(Please click photo for best view 🙂 )
A cargo ship passes under the Great Belt Bridge.
There have been cases of collision with (and on) the bridge, but fortunately no serious damage to the bridge or loss of life occurred. But every time I see a big ship passing under the bridge – I can not help thinking about the disaster, that could happen if a ship (or a plane!) hit the bridge …..
The East Bridge is a suspension bridge with a span a free span of 1,624 metres making it the world’s third-longest suspension bridge span.
The largest ships in world have passed under the bridge:
By night – “Oasis Of The Sea” (Amateur video)
And by day – “Allure Of The Seas” (CNN)
In the hazy weather only the lower parts of the bridge pylons are visible:
At 254 metres above sea level, the two pylons of the East Bridge are the highest points on solid structures in Denmark.
beautiful how it fades into the fog!!
