A cargo ship, a fisherman and a number of cars meet around the Great Belt Bridge, Denmark
The East Bridge is a suspension bridge with a free span of 1,624 metres – making it the world’s third-longest suspension bridge span.
This bridge is connecting the western and eastern parts of Denmark. Until this fixed link opened in 1997 ferries between Funen and Jutland linked the eastern and western parts of the country.
In the hazy weather only the lower parts of the bridge pylons are visible:
At 254 metres above sea level, the two pylons of the East Bridge are the highest points on solid structures in Denmark.
