Where are we going?

Vilhelmsborg Forest. Late May 2011.
Two roads leading trough the summer-green forest. Where will you go?! Many years ago Hans Christian Andersen drove straight ahead on his way to Vilhelmsborg….

I’d take the left path.
Do you know the poem by Robert Frost ?
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

A beautiful poem – although I probably do not understand everything in detail – because of my not very good English skills. Obviously it fits nicely with the picture – as several others are noting below!

It would be a hard choice, both paths look like they lead to beautiful places.

You are right, but the left one is much smaller……

First the left, than I’ll return and will also explore the right way, and in the end, I’ve two places in my had. Days later I would go to my prefered by bike 😉
Great shot Truels!

The poem Sybil quoted was what came to my mind as soon as I saw your question. It is a poem I had to memorize and recite in grade school and is a favorite of mine. Yes, I would take the left road and see what adventures would open up before me.

Thanks for your comment, Scott 🙂 – Robert Frost is not known here in Denmark – like he apparently is in the U.S.

He is an American poet which is probably why. He wrote and read a poem at John F. Kennedy’s presidential inauguration.

I, too, immediately thought of Robert Frost…”two roads diverged in the woods”….I’d take the one on the left. The road less-travelled often times is the most interesting!

I agree. And I also prefer a path with gravel rather than asphalt!

I think it’d take them both!

We call it a fork in the road, or in this case a fork on the paths. I really like the way you shot this one, it makes both paths look so inviting.
