Aussie abstract # 4
Captured in January 2011.
Like in the photo in my previous post, Aussie abstract # 3, Mother Nature has been giving a helping hand with the design of this work: From one of Australia’s many fires.
Bushfires in Australia can be both harmful – and useful. Australia’s indigenous people used controlled bushfires to take care of the landscape.
In dry years the uncontrolled bushfires are a major problem in Australia. Last time it happened was in 2009.
In the summer of 2010-11, when we traveled in Australia, Australia had got the reverse problem:
Large floods caused disastrous conditions in several places, most severe in Queensland. We had planned traveling north from Sydney to Queensland, but had to travel southwards instead……
Which turned out to be an even wiser decision than we imagined: Shortly after we had arrived in Australia – and had started our trip southwards from Sydney – yet another natural disaster hit Queensland and its severely affected communities:
Cyclone Yasi.
Beautiful texture! So is that a charred spot in the lower right corner? It looks like blue blood almost, very cool.

The black area may well have something to do with the fact that there have been fires in and around the tree…

Very nicely composed, Truels. I agree with Sarah…like a wound spurting blue life-blood. Australia needs a break!

That blue “dot” was an eye-catcher indeed. I wonder how that was made?

It’s probably caused by the fires, that black/blue wound….
