Ginkgo
This is my last autumn photos from the Botanical Garden in Aarhus. And this is the leaf from a Ginkgo (in Danish: “Tempeltræ” – translation: Temple-tree). This tree has one of the most beautiful and distinctive leaves – in my view.
Therefore, I took many photographs of these leaves (in the beginning of November). But I had to be very careful – a little touch was enough to make them fall dawn ….
Taking many photos is a nice job (especially with my new camera!) – but it can be difficult to choose the best one! And this time I need your help again to choose which of the three following is the best one?
If you read Carsten’s comment, I had to try his idea!

Difficult question Truels.
The light on the leaf is similar in the first and last – and better than the middle. I prefer the background in the last with the blue light. For that reason I’d pick the last.
You might play a little more with the composition. What if you made a square crop and found an angle with either less or more symmetry?

I like the subject but for me, the images are a little dark. Each could use a boost in contrast to make the subject pop off the dark background. As for composition, I like the third best. The addition of the blue bokehs in the backgroud makes it the clear winner.

Do not ask me which is best! I have that same issue with my photos! 🙂 I love this series of Ginko photos. It reminds me when i first discovered one of these trees, and I was amazed at those leaves. 🙂
Wait, I think if I have to chose, I like the last one best. It’s more in your face, and the bokeh behind it. It’s screaming “Look at me!” 🙂

The color of the leaf in the second – that is real autumn color, that’s why I liked this one too.

That’s so difficult! I like each of them but for different reasons: I like the first one for the plain background; the second one for the yellow colour; and the third one for the bokeh, the shape of the leaf, and the more vertical composition!

Extraordinary nice work, especially on the first one. I vote for that one – the “dots” on the other ones can be a bit distracting. Maybe only “flisespikkerier” 🙂

I’m fond of 1:1, and it this case the vlue dots were not so distracting, but gave an additional balance since you have cropped the leaf.

I love the last one most of all! The second is interesting, but without seeing the plant in live, I cannot have idea from its “real” color.

I have a ginkgo tree in my backyard and missed taking a picture of it this year. I have to say I like the second image best, I like the warm colors.

The second one is the best for me , how it enters your frame and the color is very delicate . Lovely soft green line is the sign of living there .

Not later than yesterday I was admiring the fallen leaves of a gingko tree. Beautiful shaped leaves. I like the way you cropped the fourth photo but my favourite remains the second one for its soft texture and colour.

Your fifth version has enhanced color saturation. I like that much. But I’m not sure on the symmetrical image now it is on display. The left side of the leaf doesn’t add anything to the image – in my opinion. But the light on the right side is very good.
Now we are talking details. Your image is fine. But maybe it coud be very fine?

I like the third one. It brings back such memories of those stinky trees! I remember they smell bad in the fall. I also know that they are used for a memory enhancement.
