A Rose for My Father

November 11, 2011

In memory of my father who passed away 05-11-2011

This is a Rose for My Father.

He passed away November 5., 92 years old.

For decades my father’s passion was  his garden in Ribe.

The garden was wonderful and extremely well maintained.

There were a large number of perennials especially roses, many vegetables and numerous fruit bushes and trees.

No wonder that his joy and love of the garden rubbed off on others too…

This rose is in memory of him.

    Please accept my condolences.
Your fathers long life must leave a large empty space.
You could use these days to memorize all the good times you had with him.

It is a beautiful rose you have picked for your father.

Truels, I was so sorry to learn that your loss of a family member was your father. My mother, now in her 90s transplanted flowers to her garden from her father’s garden. He was a gardener by trade and passed that love on through the generations to me. Perhaps you can do the same. They act as a living and ongoing presence and reminder of the loved one who carefully tended to them for years.

Thank you for all your lovely words, Lynn. I have some of my fathers plants in my own garden. And I am happy that I became a gardener 10 years ago. My children are aged from 13 to 23 – and we will see in the future if they will love gardening too….

So sad for your loss- best wishes to you and your family through this sad time. I too have treasured memories of my late dad and roses. He loved his garden and especially his roses. I have a row of white icebergs in my front garden, which is my constant reminder of my dad.

I am sure he would. But my father did never touched a computer so he could not understand it!
