Summer retrospect / 9
Summer has come to an end, but it is also time for some more good summer memories….
This summer I visited Sjælland ( Zealand ), which is the largest of the Danish islands. Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is is located on the east coast of Zealand at Øresund, which is sound between Denmark and Sweden.
In Copenhagen there are many interesting sights. Museums, castles and other buildings, the Little Mermaid – and much more, but all these cultural experiences, I will not show this time. But I will go outside the city to the western suburbs and show some photos from a disused gravel pit!
This former gravel pit, called “Hedeland”, is now used for recreational purposes. Here is a rich flora and fauna in the manmade nature. There are many km.’s of hiking trails, fishing in the lakes, amphitheater, golf course, vintage railway with steam locomotive, gocart- and motocross tracks. There is even a ski hill with a lift for skiing in winter!
But I was occupied by the fine summer weather and the delicate nature that have arisen in the area ………
Vi liker oss også i København.

You’re right, it could be great. Here they have actually greatly strived to use the advantages that the gravel pit has been given.

Those gravel pits are interesting. I mean that they can be and nowadays must be to adapt with nature after use. Nearby me they planted huge amount of pines. Yet they are not very big, but there will be some day pine wood.
One innovation is here that they have made a swimming place for people. Water is coming from the soil and so people have sandy beach.
Thank You showing this Hedeland. Your photos are great.

I agree that we must do our “damage” in nature good again by taking advantage of the potential which is created in the best possible way – for both nature and humans. And NOT do as usual: Leave it as it was when use is finished 😦
