Another week with snow
December 10, 2010
It has been a cold white week. Colder and more white than the southern part of Greenland!
The sun has not been shining the first part of the week. This is a view from Jelshøjvej just outside Mårslet:
Visibility was low and it was very misty.
But yesterday the sun was shining. The snowy landscape became quite different and beautiful:
From Vilhelmsborg I went back towards Mårslet along Langballevej, here near where I was in November:
This morning frost gave everything an enchanting white glow.

Pete, i’m glad you enjoy a little cold and snow from the far North down there in the middle of summer 🙂 – I’m looking foreward to “your” weather – and wishing you a nice, sunny and warm Christmas!!

Could be a scene straight out of New England! We have not yet seen a stitch of snow and as a gardener, this has me a bit worried. It has been so very windy and cold and when that happens, the landscape suffers from dehydration. But, I digress.
You have such a subtle hand with your camera. Meaning, at first glance, you think ‘huh, a snowy road’. BUT then, you see the symmetry of the trees and realize, THIS was no accidental composition.
Very clever, Truels! 🙂

The 3 photos here are captured last week – but the 2 first in my post “King Winter – early arrival 2010” were from November 27 – and they are all captured along the same road (Langballevej).

Excellent shots! That looks like amazingly thick snow, judging by the first and second photos! The middle shot is my favorite, though: What beuatiful textures you’ve captured in the snow! The footsteps add an element of mystery, too… The last is magical, too! We’ve only had our first major frost last night!

Thank you for your comments, Kai! The textures in the snow is made by the wind – and the footsteps are from a hare…

I were close to your home the other day, and it looked just like on the last two images. Very beautiful!

Such wintry photos! Your roads look so narrow, Truels. I love that second one with the lone tree and the car approaching – it seems to tell a story.

I am lucky to live a place, where there are no big roads and highways nearby. And yes, the mood was so different the two days with fog – and clear sunshine.

Nature painted in monochromes with a splash of sunlight for color. I believe that kind of frost is called hoar frost.

I had to get the Dictionary here, and yes – it had been hoar frost here, which painted everything white.

Truels, this first picture is really amazing… The country road leading to somewhere unknown into the mist and deep snow ! What a sight and what an amount of snow you had ! A wonderful series of pictures and landscapes. Great for Nordic skiing, surely. Are those your steps on pic no 2 ? 😉

Thank you, Isa. Many Nordic skiing Danes enjoy the weather very much. My leg is not in shape for that – so I walk – I tried a few times to walk beside the road or path – and had big problems in the more than ½ meters’ snow…. – and it is my steps on no 2 🙂
