Football School

June 30, 2010

Every year my son is one of around 28.000 Danish boys and girls going to Football School (Fodboldskole) a week in the summer holiday. The Danish Football Association (DBU) arranges – and hundreds of young volunteers are “teachers” for the many enthusiastic young people.

Monday morning I went to Tranbjerg to one of the local football schools. It was a great experience to see hundreds of boys and girls happy and eager to play and learn and have fun:

Two young football “teachers” ready with bags filled with footballs.

Welcome! Take care of each other, have fun, play football – and remember: Drink a lot of water!

Morten is the leader of Group 18. Here he waits for his 16 boys to find him ( my son Rasmus is in this group)

WOW – a new football for everybody – Let’s get started now!

(Everybody gets footballs, National Team Dresses, and much more stuff to take home when the Football School is over)

And so begins a week of joy and fun with football and lots of new friends….

How many times can I do this in the end of the week?? 😉

That looks like suuuch fun! I wish we’d had this when I was growing up, I might actually have learned how to kick that soccer ball! 🙂

Kids learn so much in a supportive team environment. What a great way to make friends, have fun and exercise! You’ve really captured the spirit of the school!

Wonderful post ! Reminds me of the soccer camps my second son participated to some years ago. It was great for all involved. This year it must be so much fun to watch some matches of the World cup together and what a motivation ! Love your photos.

Thank you. Yes, he is mad about football, and both watches and plays football. And good you are on the “field” again, Isa:-)
