Today I post one more moment from my trip recently home from Billund Airport in Central Jutland. (More about this – and the End of Summer in my last post). This photo is from the the heather-covered areas near Rørbæk Lake. Ever since I was a little boy, I remember the autumn as associated with flowering heather on the major moor areas of my birthplace, Western Jutland.

Oh that heather is lovely. We have some patches here but I’ve never seen fields of it like that.
Centuries back much of Jutland was covered with heather. In Western parts of Jutland there are still large areas of heather – and these are now protected.
So beautiful and magical.
Thanks, Lynn!
Beautiful and peaceful, Truels. I can almost smell the fragrance…
The bees love these flowers too – and the honey from these areas is regarded as the best in Denmark!
beautiful
parts of the west of Ireland (Connemara!) are full of heather too, and I love it. Very pretty!
I would like to go there again – I travelled in West Ireland with one of my first girlfriends in the middle of the 1970′s
How very lovely.
Yes!
A wonderful composition with lovely colors!
When there are many of them – even small flowers like these can be overwhelming!
One can sit under that tree and lets the breeze pamper her face then open her eyes to see that beautiful purple velvet .
I did not go and sat down there – because there were sheep and wildlife in the area – and therefore many ticks in the grass!
The heather is a beautiful colour – love it when we see fields of it like this.
Do you also have heather areas in New Zealand? (I do not remember if I saw this)
Great photo. In autumn heathers are most beautiful.
They are. Do you have heather in Finland too?!
Herlig bilde, flotte høstfarger! Røsslyng-tepper lyser godt opp!
